Final weeks before Marine Corps Marathon
The Marine Corps Marathon is my goal this year and will be here before I know it. It is just under 3 weeks until the Marathon. Training has been going well.
I have been running about 5 - 6 hours a week, biking 4 - 5 hours a week, and doing events on most weekends. Many weekends I have doubled up, doing one on Saturday and Sunday.
These events have progressed from 5k's, 10k's, and most recently a 1/2 marathon in Jersey City. My times and performance are improving as I progess.
I have also competed in 7 Triathlons (swim, bike, run), and a Duathlon (run,bike,run) as well. I started with a Sprint Distance Triathlon in June.
(.25 - .5 mile swim, 11 - 17 mile bike, and a 5k as the final leg) and finished this year with an Olympic Distance Triathlon a few weeks ago.
(.92 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 10k as the final leg).
They are a challenge, but it is certainly gratifying crossing the finish line.
After the marathon my next goal is a 1/2 Ironman Triathlon next fall. I would like to compete in a full Ironman Triathlon the year after that. I'll see how it goes.
